Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have found numerous engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a hero that is truly a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is straightforward: press a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty stages, encounter tough enemies and unlock a market to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.
Plan your movements precisely, since one mistake forces starting over. Bounce on bubbles to launch the poop upward, navigate fragile ledges, and touch triggers to unlock hidden paths. Gather UN-KOINS and use them on tougher levels as the action intensifies.
Visually, the experience shows off vibrant level designs and an amazing soundtrack. The retro visual style with morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of players of classic titles like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to think of other games where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often incorporated scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, fecal references is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, such as being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is ready at present on Steam, with the full game set to arrive on computers this November.
